The name of King Aarnum is based on Aarne Jungerberg, the game's designer. The name of the Raane set is also an anagram of Aarne.

Ascaron's Call is the name of the big tavern in Braverock, in that tavern you can see Ascaron's logo.

There is a gravestone with the epitaph "Here lies A. R. Malion", Armalion is a game that was being developed by Ikarion, the assets of that game were used as the basis for making Sacred.

The symbol in the portal rune is the J.R.R. Tolkien monogram.
