In the previous quest, you were able to give some gold and allow Mechthild to get out of an unwanted betrothal. As you leave the house you come face to face with her ex-fiance. He's already heard the news and isn't taking it well. He even threatens to give her a good beating after he's done with you.

A good beating huh? Maybe it's time you and your cronies find out what a good beating is like. After bruising on the hapless fellows for a short while they all beg for mercy. Carl is now sorry he lost his temper and promises to never come near Mechthild again. Problem solved.
