Sacred 2:This Book is Sacred
This Book is Sacred
By Dromin
This is the drawing that I made for the second round of ProjectAfterimage. I had to draw myself as a game character, so I chose to be a Seraphim from Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (which is the only game (and the only character) which I regularly play).
I also made a background story. It probably sounds weird in some places, since I'm Flemish and English isn't my native language. Feel free to comment to point out mistakes n_n (Comments on the drawing are of course also very much appreciated n_n).
A Seraphim’s Diary
Day 1, Part 1
Today I was created. I have no idea how that happened – since male seraphim don’t seem to exist – but my player said so and that means it’s probably true. Anyway, some old hag (who by the way is dead now) told me I have to go and save the world in her stead. It sounds like a really troublesome job (probably doesn’t pay too well either), but I guess I have nothing better to do. I’ll give it a try.
Day 1, Part 2
I had to cut my way through hordes of enemies, most of which look exactly the same. How can a population with so little genetic diversity even survive? On top of that they multiply uncontrollably as soon as I turn my back. They also dropped a shitload of junk – which I got rid of – and a few magical items. I found some cool armor and a ring that gives me a higher chance to find valuables. Valuables are nice, so I’ll keep that one I guess.
Day 1, Part 3
I am clearly the only person in possession of functioning brains around here. Both the villagers and the enemies will only talk nonsense, which is getting annoying after an entire day without any good conversation. When I asked a random woman in Sloeford the way to the principal’s house, she started whining about clerics and freedom. Personally, I believe people like that really should be locked away for their own as well as others’ safety. Anyway, my player showed me she can make a map appear out of nowhere so I don’t really need these idiots’ help.
Day 1, Part 4
I found an intelligent person – sort of. Principal Trodeth asked me to retrieve their town’s stolen taxes, and since I was really happy to hear someone talk about other things than freedom and food, I agreed to help him out. I’ll start following the robbers’ trail tomorrow first thing in the morning.
Day 2, Part 1
Kobolds! There’s really no end to them, but at least they drop a lot of stuff. I found some really cool armor which gives me an even higher chance to find valuables and looks really nice to boot, so both me and my player were overjoyed. I’m really starting to get fed up with this saving the world thing though, the shadow campaign is way more interesting. The rule that seraphim can only be good is clearly a violation of Ancaria's anti-discrimination laws, too.
Day 2, Part 2
I found and killed the robbers. These jewels look really nice – I wonder whether they’d notice if some were missing? Better not risk it. I’ll head for Thylysium now.
Day 2, Part 3
I was on my way to Thylysium when all of sudden I found myself in the middle of a fight. Some robbers were attacking a woman, so I jumped in and killed them. But seriously, how do these robbers make a living? There are way more robbers and other random bad guys than villagers after all. Anyway, the woman asked me to bring her to Thylysium, which I agreed to since I was already heading there after all. Unfortunately, she’s even more stupid than the other NPCs. No matter how often I tell her to stay close to me, she keeps running off to random places. Then she gets attacked by twenty enemies at once and I have to go save her – over and over again. I really should just let her die, but then I probably won’t get my quest reward.
Day 2, Part 4
I finally reached Thylysium and got rid of that annoying woman. I tried to bring the jewels to senator Gracchus, but the senate guard sent me to some suspicious looking tavern instead. Then a guy called Liosilath started whining to me about the corrupted government. Does he think I’m stupid? Governments that aren’t corrupted exist only in the minds of idealists anyway. Liosilath told me to bring the jewels to the new school, but I ran off with them instead. Schools only exist to torture children, and I wouldn’t want to take part in something like that. Besides, these jewels are really pretty.
Day 3, Part 1
I kind of failed the main quest, so I wonder where I should go now. Oh well, I don’t particularly want to save or ruin the world, so I guess I’ll just run around for a bit until I find something interesting to do.
Day 3, Part 2
The kobolds have been replaced by skeletons, which is bad because the undead are a lot stronger. I almost got killed a little while ago, but fortunately my wounds magically disappear if I run and hide for a while. Still, fighting is no fun if you keep getting hurt. I wonder whether I should just settle down in a random small village – I have these jewels after all, so I don’t have to work to make a living anymore.
Day 3, Part 3
One of the skeletons dropped a really interesting book. I decided to really call it quits and find a quiet place to sit down and read. I’m sure someone else will save the world in my stead, there are four more characters that can do the light campaign after all. Oh well – the end.
