Usage Strategies
- Enemies may detect the Assassin if he walks too close to them but this will not break the cloaking effect. These enemies will attack but Cloak of Shadows and its modifiers will remain active. The chance to remain hidden from enemies increases with level and may be improved with the Creep mod. Once this value reaches 100% enemies will never detect the Assassin while Cloak of Shadows is active.
- This value will reach 100% at level 5 with the Creep mod and at level 8 without it. It will reach 100% even sooner with investment in the skill Shadow Disciplines Lore.
- Only the Assassin can prematurely break the cloaking effect. Using melee attacks always breaks the effect. When using ranged attacks or spells, there's a a chance to remain cloaked which increases with level and may be improved with the Stealth mod. Once this value reaches 100% the Assassin will never prematurely break the effect unless he uses melee attacks.
- This value will reach 100% at level 8 with the Stealth mod and at level 15 without it.
- Therefore the Creep and Stealth mods will help a low-level Assassin rushing to get 100% invisibility ASAP, but for the long term investment it may be worthwhile to consider other mods.
- A useful combo is Burst of Speed + Cloak of Shadows.
- The duration increases very slowly with CA level. It gains 1 second every 20 levels. If the Lurk mod is chosen, the cooldown will be reduced to 48 seconds. This means once Cloak of Shadows reaches level 60 the duration will catch up with the cooldown. Around this point the Assassin can begin to maintain Cloak of Shadows constantly (if regen times have been kept low and invisibility is kept high).
- Tooltip displays the player's current weapon damage but Cloak of Shadows does not cause any damage
Pros and Cons

- Allows completion of any non-escort quest easily
