Skills and Attributes
The following skills will affect this combat art:
- Traps Lore - improves combat art damage, critical chance and casting speed, allows for modification points.
- Traps Focus - reduces regeneration time and allows for higher level combat art without penalty, allows for modification points.
- Concentration - directly improves regeneration time.
- Ancient Magic - directly improves combat art damage and lowers opponents' resistance to its damage.
- Combat Discipline - will increase the damage of this combat art and lower its regeneration time if it is placed in a combo.
- Damage Lore - will improve the chance, duration, and strength of the Burning secondary damage effects triggered by Wake of Inferno's Fire damage.
The following attributes will affect this combat art:
- Intelligence will increase its damage and spell intensity.
- Stamina will lower regeneration time.
Usage Strategies
- Can be useful against very large mobs that are not moving, for example enemies within melee range.
- The effect follows the Assassin around while it lasts.
- The duration scales slowly, gaining 1 second every 20 levels. This means the duration will catch up to the cooldown at CA level 100.
- Taking the gold mod Sustain will increase the duration and let Wake of Inferno catch up to the Cooldown much quicker. Around CA level 35-40 the Assassin may be able to use Wake of Inferno constantly.
- The reduction to enemy fire resistance actually increases damage sensitivity, working like reverse Damage Mitigation. It will affect all enemies, whether they are fire-immune or whether they have no fire resistance at all.
- Due to its reduction to enemy fire resists, it's useful to cast Wake of Inferno before attacking with CA's like Fire Blast or fire-damage weapons socketed with a Jewel of Flame.
- Wake of Inferno has a modest radius, but it can be increased dramatically with Combat Art Range +X% item modifiers, killing everything on the screen.
- Wake of Inferno has a mutual exclusivity with the Sorceress's spell Frost Nova. If the two spells are cast in an overlapping area, whichever is the higher level will cancel out the other. There are also 4 enemies that can use Frost Nova:
- The Assassin can use Wake of Inferno to cancel out the enemy's Frost Nova, but beware if Wake of Inferno is too low level -- the enemy will banish the Assassin's spell instead!
