Detailed Walkthrough
Talk to the Messenger to receive the undelivered letter.
The DeElfici offices are in Twainbrook, so head North out of Sloeford, over the river and follow the road to the right (East) and then North. At the junction you can either continue following the road North then East into Twainbrook, or you can turn East over the river and then North just before the next bridge.
Whichever route you use, when you arrive in Twainbrook head to the DeElfici offices and talk to the Merchant. Apparently you owe the DeElfici’s a very large debt for your education.
The Merchant’s Son will head outside at this point; follow him and talk to him. He gives you a letter for TyBosso DeElfici – apparently he might be able to help with your debt.
Head East out of Twainbrook and then South. When you come to the junction turn left (East), but just before you cross the bridge the quest will update. Curiosity has driven you to open the letter and its contents are not good news.
Fortunately you know just who to take this news to – a general in Thylysium. Continue over the bridge and along the main road until you reach the junction just past the Thylysium Cemetery. Turn right (South) here and follow the road down into the city. The general you want to talk to, General Whimsical, is in the Army Camp in the South part of the city. He’s in the North part of the camp, so he’s pretty easy to find.
Talk to General Whimsical – he’s very shocked by the letter – then talk to him again.
He asked TyBosso DeElfici what he has to say, so talk to TyBosso to find out. Predictably he claims it’s a conspiracy, but he does declare your debt waived for bringing it to his attention.
Speak to TyBosso again to receive a ‘personal guard’.
Duty done, debts waived, and with a shiny new henchman, head North out of the Army Camp...
But just as you reach the exit of the camp, your new henchman turns on you! Kill him, and return to General Whimsical to declare this outrage. He will demand TyBosso explain, well, TyBosso teleporting away and the other Personal Guard attacking you seems to be explanation enough.
Kill the Personal Guard and then talk to General Whimsical again.
The general employs you to investigate the other DeElfici business houses, starting with TyBosso’s house in Thylysium.
Head North out of the Army Camp to just North of the senate building, then turn left (West) and head to the far West side of the city. TyBosso’s house is on the top of a hill; head up there and go in. Looks like only the servant is still there.
Talk to Servant Percival and he will confirm that TyBosso has fled with his wife and grandson.
Still, there’s more to the TyBosso property than just the building aboveground... Head down the hill and along the beach to the cellar entrance behind the house. Go into the cellar – there are literal rats down here, not just people working for TyBosso (although there are some of those too), so you’ll find poison defence useful.
If you’re lower level you might want to make sure you’ve killed all the rats before you talk to the Personal Guard with the exclamation mark (!) over his head – you also need to be ready to fight, because as soon as you’re done talking, all three Guards are going to attack you. As long as you can get a bit of space you should survive, but don’t hesitate to use a sneaky trick such as using Cascading Shroud just before talking to the Guard, or using Shadow Step immediately after talking to him.
If you do die, head back to the cellar. You should find it easier to fight the Guards one-by-one when you re-enter, since they will have split up in the cellar and won’t all be grouped around you. This also makes running away and running out of the cellar, then running back in a short while later, a valid tactic for the fight if you think you’re going to struggle.
Once the three Guards are finally dead, report back to General Whimsical. He wants you to spread the word about the DeElficis to the other High Elf Outposts.
The first of these is just to the West of Thylysium Cemetery. Head North out of the city until you reach the junction, then turn left (West) and follow the road over the river until you reach the Resurrection Monument just outside the Outpost. Head into the Outpost and talk to Commander Lintflas.
The second outpost is North of Clearview. Return to the main road and head East. At the junction just East of Thylysium Cemetery continue to follow the road East. At the next junction (at the Broken Lance tavern) turn left (North) and follow the road to Clearview. Head North on the road out of Clearview. Just before you reach the Outpost you will find Hyderia DeElfici and two Personal Guards.
Talk to Hyderia, she’ll brag that the Temple will overthrow the Nobility and that the DeElficis will be back, then she’ll run away and the two Personal Guards will attack you.
Kill the two Guards, then chase down Hyderia – she hasn’t gone far, just a little further North up the road to the Guard Tower opposite the Outpost you were heading to.
Talk to Hyderia again and she will beg you to spare her life. You can either accept and let her run (and receive some gold for your ‘mercy’, as well as a very small amount of experience when she dies), or you can decline and she will join you as a henchman – you need to take her to the Outpost with you in this case.
Head into the Outpost and talk to Commander Winderlich.
If you declined he will thank you for your information, and for capturing Hyderia.
If you accepted he will thank you for your information, and says he will keep his eyes open for Hyderia.
Talking to Commander Winderlich completes this quest. To begin the next quest in the chain, The Hunt for TyBosso, you need to head to the Trading Post North of the High Elf Outpost and talk to Glydial DeElfici.
